Show and tell was a delight, as ever, and it was really nice to have time to chat to friends old and new.

Wednesday 20th November 2013 - Christmas Project
Show and Tell (Click images to enlarge)
With a delightful array of slides and small quilts, Judy took us through the highlights of her silk route travels
and shared some of her inspiration, idea development and textile creation processes for her personal "Silk Route - Journey in Stitches". The creative use of dyes, paints, stamps, threads and materials to produce imaginative responses to the many and varied colours, shapes and patterns she came across is nothing short of awe inspiring. We loved the Yurt hats! |

Wednesday 18th September 2013 - Christine Driver, Empress Mills
The team brought a vast array of threads and samples for us to see, touch and feel.
It was impossible to come away without a host of exciting ideas for future projects. Thank you Empress Mills! |
What a captivating evening!
Empress Mills treated us to a lively and entertaining talk on different types of thread and their uses, interesting fabrics, construction products and lots of ideas for creating interesting textiles. Christine has a real love of thread and one cannot fail to be inspired by her enthusiasm and deep knowledge. |

Wednesday 17th July 2013 - Members' Showcase
This is always one of the high spots of the Chester Ps and Qs calendar when members have on opportunity to dig into the back of their cupboards and bring along pieces to show the group.
It is such a pleasure to share some of the highlights of our separate patchwork and quilting journeys. Once again, this proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening and the wide range of work brought forth gasps of delight and wonder. A huge thank you to everyone! (Click images to enlarge) |
Wednesday 19th June 2013 - Linus Evening
There was a very happy buzz through the evening as we prepared quilts for Project Linus.
We set up tables for cutting, ironing, sewing, laying out and basting and there was plenty of room for people to work in groups. With a rich variety of material, some good block patterns and lots of enthusiasm, it is amazing how much can be achieved in a single evening. |

Wednesday 17th April 2013 - Quilts and the Underground Railroad
Pauline Mulford gave a fascinating talk on Quilts and the Underground Railroad in North America. She showed a number of quilts (with the assistance of her husband) illustrating the different blocks and we were intrigued to hear the stories behind the patterns and their possible meanings.
Charity for the year
We voted for our charity of the year and Hounds
for Heroes was selected. This organisation
provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and
women of both the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services.

Wednesday 20th March 2013 - Sashiko Project Evening
We started off the new 2013-14 programme with a project evening. Sian showed us some examples of Sashiko and took us through the process of marking up the fabric and stitching. It was a very well attended meeting and a very enjoyable evening. Thank you Sian!
Block of the Month Programme
Lyn was on hand to tell us about the Block of the Month programme - it is actually more like technique of the month. The first 3 months covers perfect points, strips and curves, the following 4 months are devoted to applique and the last 5 months are about assembly, quilting design, binding and finishing etc. It is a free programme, but participants must have a computer, printer and internet access. Lyn will be available at future group meetings to give help and advice if needed.

Wednesday 20th February 2013 - AGM
The last meeting of the 2012-13 year was the AGM. Catriona talked us through the events of the year and the financial accounts were presented by Judy. With quilts being handed in for the exhibition and all the usual puchasing opportunities with Dot and Marion, there was a lively buzz through the evening.
Catriona has now completed 3 years in office and handed over the bell to Jacky Hooton. Our thanks go to Sue, Krysia and Pat for all their hard work as they now stand down from the committee.
